Inside Line Promotions – LOXLEY, Ala. (May 2, 2017) – Harli White posted a pair of top-five finishes last weekend during an ASCS Southern Outlaw Sprints doubleheader at Deep South Speedway.

White opened the two-day show on Friday by advancing from seventh to fifth place in a heat race during her debut at the big oval.

“We didn’t have a good pill draw so we started at the back of a heat,” she said. “The track wasn’t real racy and it was tough to pass so that buried us pretty deep in the A Main.”

White lined up on the inside of the seventh row for the main event.

“A bunch of cars got together and crashed on the start,” she said. “I spun to avoid it so I went to the back. We had a decent race car, but that track was hard to pass on. I found a pretty good line in turns one and two toward the bottom. In turns three and four I was diamonding the corner. I found a spot where nobody was going and got a few positions here and there. There were a ton of cautions, which worked in our favor. It took over an hour to race that feature.”

After the opening-lap melee, White survived the remainder of the race as she maneuvered to a third-place result. That locked her into the feature redraw for Saturday’s main event.

“That was major,” she said. “It was tough to get though the heat races, especially the way I draw. I was excited we could focus on the main. We pulled the No. 2 during the redraw to start the feature on the outside of the front row.

“The pole guy decided not to take off so they called me for jumping the start and put me back a row. That really hurts you there. Whoever got the jump was who was going to win the race. I got back up to passing the second-place guy. I slid him and he turned me into the wall. Then there was a green-white-checkered restart and I hit the cone on a restart so they docked me two spots at the end of the race.”

White finished third, but was credited with a fifth-place result following the wild feature.

“It’s exactly what we needed to do with the weekend,” she said. “Of course we’d have much rather won, but top fives and finishing races is a start. You have to be consistently running near the front before a win comes your way.”

White is heading to Texas this weekend to compete on Friday at Heart O’ Texas Speedway in Waco for the 2nd annual Gene Adamchik Memorial and on Saturday at Gator Motorplex in Willis for the 5th annual Nolan Wren Memorial with the ASCS Gulf South Region.
