White Focusing on Starting Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Season Strong Following USAC Midgets Debut

Inside Line Promotions – DU QUOIN, Ill. (March 13, 2018) – Harli White enjoyed her USAC P1 Insurance National Midgets debut last Saturday inside the Southern Illinois Center, where she piloted a Keith Kunz Motorsports midget during the Shamrock Classic.

“I think it went great,” she said. “Going into it I knew it was a one-time deal and I wanted to make the best of it. We started off real strong and got a lot of points in the heat race, but I got stuck on the outside in the qualifier and couldn’t work my way down the track. That really hurt me.”

White charged from seventh to third place in a heat race to rank fourth in overall points. Unfortunately, a 10th-place result in the qualifier relegated her to a B Main. She placed seventh in the consolation race to miss transferring into the main event by only three positions.

“That was a bummer,” she said. “I think if I got another shot we’d do better. Overall, it was great to work with a top-notch team. I had a great time and learned a lot from them.”

White will shift her focus back to her sprint car team as the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com season is scheduled to begin this Friday and Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, for the 45th annual Spring Nationals.

“I need to start off better than I did last season,” she said. “I feel like this year we have more potential for top fives and top 10s and our first win. It’s all there. I think we’ll be competitive off the bat.”

White earned a pair of top 10s at Devil’s Bowl Speedway last season. Her career-best result at the track came in 2015 when she placed second.

“I’ve been to Devil’s Bowl many times,” she said. “I led a whole race in 2015 and lost on the last lap so we’ve been close to winning there. It’s a unique track. We’re pretty prepared on what we think the track will do so we can hit the setup right.”
