White Rallies for Top-10 Result During Debut Racing a Modified

Inside Line Promotions – POCOLA, Okla. (Sept. 12, 2018) – Harli White stepped outside of her comfort zone last Saturday when she raced a modified for the first time in her career.

“I’ve known Steve Butler and the Butler Family for a couple of years,” she said. “He messaged me on Facebook and said you have a modified waiting for you any time. I took him up on the offer and it was a blast.”

White finished second in a heat race at Tri-State Speedway. She lined up on the outside of the third row for the 20-lap A Main.

“I ran about half the race in the same spot I started at,” she said. “Then I looped it and had to restart at the back. I just went and picked them off one by one on the bottom of the track. I kept my nose clean and avoided the few wrecks. We had a time limit because there were a lot of cautions so we didn’t get to run the full 20 laps. I think if we went the full distance we would have had a top-five car.”

White rebounded from the mid-race miscue to finish seventh out of approximately two dozen drivers.

“It’s way different,” she said. “You drive the cars different. It took some getting used to. I felt like my last five laps of the A Main were my best laps. It was a really fun learning experience. They said I’m willing to come race with them again so I think I’ll take them up on the offer.”

White will return to her winged sprint car this Saturday at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., with the ASCS Mid-South Region and ASCS Red River Region. She placed 13th during her only visit to the bullring this season.

The next Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com event is the 8th annual Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial Sept. 20-22 at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo. White ranks 11th in the ASCS National Tour championship standings – only 49 points out of the top 10 – with seven series races remaining.
