Inside Line Promotions – SALINA, Kan. (June 12, 2019) – Harli White enjoyed her career-best Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek last week as a pair of top fives and a trio of top 10s guided her to a fifth-place finish in the championship standings.

“I think we have a good thing going and we’re having fun and that’s what helps,” she said. “It’s a really good thing whenever you can finish every Speedweek race. Even though we got rained out twice, we were competitive every night we rolled out. Our goal was consistency and we carried that out.

“You always hope to do good every time you roll out. To run those races consistently and have our best finishes in a row is massive. I have to give a huge thank you to Johnny and Ann Herrera. We hired Seth Shebester and he’s been doing well as a crew guy, too. We’ve been doing well as a team and also remember to have fun and I think our results show it.”

Two of the five scheduled Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Speedweek races rained out. The opening round was a week ago Tuesday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas. White charged from eighth to fourth place in a heat race before she advanced from fifth to fourth in the main event.

“The draw is huge, especially this time of the year,” she said. “We didn’t have a good pill draw, but it’s not always what you draw as much as it’s who you draw. You hope for a heat you’re able to move forward and that’s what we were able to do.

“I think the feature went pretty well. We moved forward, but I think we were capable of moving up a couple more positions. I think with a minor change we could have been there. Johnny and I are still learning each other and making gains race by race.”

The action shifted to Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla., last Wednesday. White finished fourth in a heat race before she advanced from 12th to seventh in the A Main.

“In the heat our car was feeling similar to how it did at Lake Ozark Speedway when we struggled earlier in the year,” she said. “We changed some things and it worked out. Any time you can go forward during an ASCS National Tour race it’s a good night.”

Speedweek concluded on Saturday at Salina Speedway, where White won a heat race before she capped the night with a fifth-place run in the main event.

“We were so good early in the A Main,” she said. “I fell back a couple of positions on the start and then started picking cars off. On a restart we were third or fourth when I noticed the car started handling a little differently. I was struggling and somehow ended up finishing fifth. We had a bleeder issue and that made the car handle worse.”

White, who currently ranks seventh in the championship standings, returns to ASCS National Tour competition this Friday at Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, S.D., and Saturday at Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City, S.D.
